You don’t know this
But sometimes I’ll walk
The world asleep expect for me
And my footsteps are as quiet as a snowfall
My shadow my only companion
Cars will pass once in a while
Their illumination the only glow on these obsidian nights
My reflection bounces off their windows as they fly by
I’ll catch a glimpse of a scared face,
With smudged mascara and tired eyes
A reflection of disappointment
But not forever
One day my reflection will reflect me
And finally, it will shine not only in me
But in the hearts of those who deserve to see.
